I own the tower version plus the matching subwoofer. Depending upon your listening environment and space requirements, the towers are a great choice for much fuller sound since they are a three-way. They don't pump out too much base on their own, which is why I added the sub. You can't go wrong with these since they lowered the price. In addition to the extra 5" woofer, the tower adds the super tweeter. So all around, the listening experience from the towers will be superior to just the bookshelves. However, if space or budget are limited, start with the bookshelf speakers. I plan to add the bookshelves as my rear surrounds later. If you have the funds and space, start with the towers and add the other speakers later.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I, on a budget picked up the two sony towers and a sony center channel. I need less than 12 inches in height so the bookshelf wouldnt work but, wow on the towers. 2 super tweeters and 2, 5 inch woogers in 36" tall slim design tower that only weighs 25 lb.s. Listening to net sterio, just totally awesome. I have the towers on 7th channel of a 7.1 receiver. Crystal clear, nothing muddy, nothing muffled. A subwoofer dialed down for a touch of base. I would say the towers are a total different item to compare to a bookshelf speaker. But like i said i would have them also in addition to the towers for the front left & right if they would have fit.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It depends on what you mean by better. The both have the same sound quality. The towers can play a little lower than the bookshelves but that shouldn't matter much if you have a subwoofer. The other plus of the towers is that they are floor standing so you don't need a stand for them.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have 4 of the SSCS3 tower speakers. For the price I am not sure there is a better speaker out there. They have a great crisp sound I am very impressed by the sound quality that these speakers put out!
