- Answer Short answer No. They distort at loud volume.Documentation with the speakers says to not play them at distortion levels.I would advise to spend more money on your speakers than these.I ran 100 watts per channel at them and am mystified at the glowing reviews.They are starter towers that are better than tv speakers.That's about it.

- Answer For the price they sound really great the next best is the punk Signature Series but there are about $300 a piece. I have mine hooked up to my 1100w Denon 7.2 receiver as long as you have a decent amount of Watts they should sound good. I get a good amount of bass out of these to.

- Answer For only one. It is odd that Sony packaged the other speakers in this set (rear, surround) in pairs, but left this one in singles. I found this out the hard way when putting together the system.

- Answer If your receiver is like mine there's no such thing as "Middle left and right", just a single middle channel. But if you mean Front left, Front right, Side Surround Left, Side Surround Right, Rear Left, and Rear Right... Then yes, you could use 6 of these. I only have 2 of these used along with a center channel speaker and subwoofer and find that to be plenty for my living room. Hooking up 6 of these, I think would be overkill. But that's not to say it wouldn't be awesome! As far as wires go, I chose to go with Oxygen free pure copper 14 gauge wire with gold plated banana plugs. Worked fantastic. You probably could get away with using 16ga CCA wire, but if you're going all out, go all out and get good wire and plugs.

- Answer I compared them to the Polk T50 towers. The Sonys sounded much better, with clearer midrange. The Sonys sounded real, the Polks sounded like speakers.
