Just purchased this camera. 1- yes can take both still and video. 2. yes it can go on a tripod.

Please try again later.Hi CoachB, 1) The camera can shoot photos and video but not at the same time. 2) The camera is compatible with a tripod. 3) The camera has timer mode but it will be for taking still images. For recording remotely you can use Imaging Edge Mobile to connect to it and start the record remotely : https://support.d-imaging.sony.co.jp/www/cscs/pmm/page2.php?area=gb&lang=en&mdl=DSC-HX80&abil=31100&mode=connect 4) You can edit the video once it has been transferred to the computer using video editing software but not on the camera.
