• Yes, you can. Just flip the screen all the way up and turn the camera so the lens is facing you. Press the shutter and an auto timer will begin to give you a few seconds to get ready for the shot. That's it.

• the screen flips over to take selfies, I haven't seen a charge light. I set it on auto works fine for me.
