I have a 32GB SDHC in mine and the camera indicates nearly 5000 shots. You will recharge the battery several times before you run out of memory! I think it will hold up to 64GB or perhaps 128. 32GB is as large as I ever use, even on my Nikon D7100. Many times I just use 16 GB.

But I did just go out and shoot some pictures in the various modes available, which are 18MP (MegaPixel), 10MP, 5MP, and Fine/Standard quality. This was a "landscape" type photo, lots of foliage/detail, which may make the image size larger then something with a less detailed background. Here are the results, starting with the Image Size setting, the Quality setting, the size of the picture, and since I have a 64GB SD card, how many of that size would fit on that card, and then how many pictures per day (14 days) you'd have to shoot to fill the card. 18MP, Fine, ~8MB, 8,000, 571 18MP, Std ~5MB, 12,800, 914 10MP, Fine ~5.5MB, 11,600, 828 10MP, Std ~3.7MB, 17,300, 1,235 5MP, Fine ~3.8MB, 16,800, 1,200 5MP, Std ~2.7MB, 23,703, 1,693 I only find settings for taking JPG stills, there is no RAW mode. There are a couple different options for movies. Other than this test, I would see no reason I would not always shoot in 18MP, Fine mode, I can always resample the picture later to make it smaller. And "bigger is better" (and not that much more money) when it comes to a memory card. Just remember to off-load and back your pictures up regularly. We haven't had our Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-HX80 all that long, but we're quite enjoying it.
