“how to get better AM reception just bought this and like all it's features except I like to listen to AM radio in the evening and for morning news etc--it is very staticy--the antenna doesn't seem to help nor does moving it around. Any suggestions!! I don't know if I can do better with another brand or model--they just don't make them like they used too”

Hi LindyLou, Find a place and an orientation that provides good reception and adjust the direction of the AM loop antenna for best AM broadcast sound. Do not place the AM loop antenna near the unit or other AV equipment, as noise may result. - Jerome
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I bought this for that very reason but only to wake up by so it's not used heavily. In most instances the clock is located near a window. I had an old antenna wire from another device that I just connected to the included antenna wire and it hangs on the blinds behind curtains so it's discrete and not very visible and improves the signal greatly. It seems some times of the year the signal is worse than others but mostly it's okay.

It does have some static but not as finicky as my previous clock which sometimes getting AM reception was impossible. I had to add a wire to the antenna and drape it over the window blind or something higher to get better reception. You could probably try that with this clock. I DO agree they don't make them like they used to. As stated in my review hard to find a nice stereo model that doesn't take a lot of table top space along with having good sound and AM radio. Many models do not offer AM anymore so I did think I had to settle somewhat with this model. I attached a wire that has an RCA plug on one end. Probably any flexible wire would serve the purpose. It just needs to connect to extend your attached antenna. Hope this helps! Good luck with your reception!
