“I see some comments about battery life being an issue. Is the camera capable of functioning while plugged in? (ie can it take a picture while plugged into a computer/USB if the batteries are dead?)”

Hi Richard, Sony's commitment to customer satisfaction is our top priority. The camera would need to have batteries in them for it to function. It will not function while plugged in to computer if the batteries are dead. Thank you so much for your question. And thank you for choosing Sony.
