5x is a good zoom? null

Other camers have higher zooms 10x for example. Optical zoom was considered better but with the large megapixels now available it is probably not much of an issue.

I've used this camera a fair amount and find that, although I wish it had more zoom, you can't get that in a waterproof camera in this size. It does a good job and can get you a little closer, but I really wish I had more like 10x. For the money in a waterproof camera, I won't get it though. So, I'm happy.

Hi David, Overall, 5X optical zoom is okay, if you will not use the Sony camera for shooting very far subjects. Also, after the 5X optical zoom you can set the camera to use 10X Clear Image Digital Zoom. Thanks -Vincent
