“Is this good enough for Alaskan cruise? (If I don't want the bulk or price of a dslr) deciding between this and the hx80 which has more zoom but also costs more) want one that's good for daily use and also decent for tourist scenic photos on vacations”

Yes this is an excellent cruise camera. Mine has been on multiple cruises and done very well.

Absolutely. Has high quality HD video as well as still. Adjusts to many lighting situations automatically. Even has a panoramic still shot capability which can capture the extremely wide angle great for BIG views.
