It's a power zoom -- it focuses and zooms internally with motors. This is perfect for gimbal video shooting as you won't have to re-balance when changing focal lengths.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Both are true. It’s got a ‘lever’ on the side to allow for powered zoom. You can also use the zoom dial to use it manually. The lens is pretty sharp for the price point. It’s an f4 and not something like my kit zoom 55-210mm with a multi f-stop, 4.5-6.3. The more you zoom in, the higher the f stop. The lens take a 72mm filter vs. 49mm for the 55-210mm. Unless you’re shooting animals or need the extra reach for something, it’s a great walk around lens for vacations.
