• No, it does NOT have an external microphone jack. In the spec tab of this products listing it says it does , but that is wrong. I am returning my camera for this reason. I contacted customer service,and we together called Sony to verify, and they did infact let me and the Best Buy customer service rep know that it DOES NOT have the input. They should be updating the listing soon. but if you need to use this camera for more than recording your kids birthday parties and need audio of a standard higher than the HACK level video, you will need a Field Audio Recording setup that will have to be added in post production editing. Although this camera can achieve a High Definition video performance with a good lighting setup, it's audio capabilities are EXTREMELY limited and this camera should only be used on a personal level not professional or even someone tying to emulate a professional. Please Please please take that into account before buying !!

• Hi ILoveSony, the camcorder doesn't have any ports to connect external accessories to. You can use the built in mic for audio recording. There should be no delay audio and video recording. Both will start once Rec button is pressed. Thanks_Mitch
