Hi masterpiecetheata, Sony's commitment to customer satisfaction is our top priority. The camera is able to zoom in during a close up shot but we cannot guaranteed that it will be in focus since there is a minimum focusing distance needed for close up shot to be in focus. This camcorder does record audio. The image resolution captured is 9.2 MP (4032 x 2272). Thank you so much for your question. And thank you for choosing Sony.
