No (but kind of yes). This camera has 8 Gig internal memory. For the settings I use, that's about 25 minutes of video -- plenty for most uses, But with only 8G, you run the risk of running out of space when you need it most! There's no right or wrong answer on the size of card to use. I prefer 32G - it's big enough to hold many filming sessions (e.g., a whole vacation), but not so big that you run the risk of losing a HUGE amount if the card is misplaced (or stolen...).
