“Dialogue run through my TV's speaker is muddled and difficult to understand. I'm wondering if this speaker could be wirelessly connected to the TV so I could have it close enough to me that I stand a better chance of understanding the dialogue.”

The speaker is not really designed for TV use but if you want it closer you may need to purchase a Bluetooth receiver to connect to your TV.

Yes you could, so long as your TV or receiver supports Bluetooth out. But most TVs and receivers will automatically terminate the Bluetooth connection when turned off, so you'd probably need to reconnect each time. If you use AppleTV you can easily select an AirPlay device as the sound source. Unfortunately, this unit does not have AirPlay.
