I see no indication that the speaker contains a phono preamp; the RCA inputs are line-level. So, if your turntable has a built-in phono preamp, you're good; if not, you would need an external phono preamp between the turntable and the speaker. The reason for a phono preamp is twofold. First, most phono cartridges produce a very low-level output. You need a preamp to increase the signal level. The volume would be very low without a preamp. Second, the RIAA standard for phono recordings alters the signal level for certain frequencies, to accommodate the mechanical limitations of the phono recording and playback process. So, without the equalizer circuit built into a phono preamp, the signal from the turntable would sound distorted.
