Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hello, we appreciate your interest in our SONY product. Yes, it is loud. The HTG700 couples powerful, immersive surround sound with crystal-clear dialogue. It has three front speakers combined with unique Sony signal processing, reproduce "vertical" audio, creating virtual surround sound that seems to come from all around you. Also, its powerful wireless subwoofer delivers a deeper and richer bass sound. ~Earl

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I traded up from a Sony HTS-200F (2.1) soundbar to this 3.1 HT-G700 model. One thing I noticed right away, even with the smaller soundbar-only HTS-200F, was that at the same TV volume level the TV speakers, to my ears, sounded louder than through the Sonys. The soundbars, however, provided a much fuller, richer mixture of an audible spectrum without the need to crank up the volume dials. Especially these days, with the much better selection of not only HD but 4K content, what most historically casual TV viewers miss is the equally rich and robust sound effects and background soundtracks. Most of these were only hinted at with my previous 2.1 Sony soundbar, but with technology and software Sony has found a way to allow for the impression of "surround" sound without the need of rear satellite speakers with this HT-G700. Bottom line is that if you've not yet experienced TV viewing with a soundbar, and do not wish the expense and learning curve of separate audio receivers/amplifiers/speakers and wiring, you should be pleasantly surprised and awakened with soundbars.
