While I use the a7rIII, I saw in the extended specifications for the a7III on Sony.com that it uses this "Z" (or long name NP-FZ100) battery. Prior generations, such as the a7II, and the a6000 series used the "W" battery. With the body re-design on the a7 series Mark III and the introduction of the a9 series, Sony began using the "Z" battery which provides significantly longer life
