The easy answer is yes it does, it has the AVLS The device does include a user selectable (Automatic Volume Limiter System) This is a software is designed to be a safety feature that caps maximum output to protect the users hearing. It is user-controllable feature Not to be confused with the “High Gain” output setting that Changes the amplifier behavior (And is Not a volume cap, just more adjustable control for a powerful "headroom".) The device when paired with a good set of headphones can kick out crisp, clean loud audio...I own this and have been using it a lot. The volume can be adjusted in many different ways. This is the first DAP I've owned, so not sure what volume limiting feature your referring to. I listen to hip hop and other heavy music with this. It gets really loud.
