I could see this being used as a form of media sever for a stereo as well as a portable device used with studio headphones. If you are interested in something to just store mp3 files for playback consider a cheap no name mp3 player or smart phone. Most people who would really benefit from this would already own expensive stereo equipment and headphones as well as an audio library in say CDs. I do agree the price feels a bit high, but I would struggle to find something on the market cheaper offering what this has.
