“Why won't Best Buy only allow their "members" to be able to purchase high demand items? Paying almost $200 per year and I still have to watch items being sold out to scalpers and bots. What's the point of a membership anymore?”

I've been asking myself the same thing! I'm completely over the "drops" that no one can get except bots. You might as well not even advertise it as no one will get it anyways.
