You can get 3D sound from any headset (so long as it is compatible with the PS5 in general, either via USB dongle or 3.5mm jack into the controller) or speaker system. The 3D audio is a software feature on the PS5, not specific to any hardware. Note, the effect will work best and most consistently with headphones.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Per Sony’s March Road to PS5 event, 3D audio is built into the PS5 through the tempest engine and they will be focusing on headphones first to allow customers to experience it. However, they have plans to have it work (probably not quite as well) with tv speakers and sound bars/ sound systems. They haven’t updated us yet on their progress except to announce the Pulse 3D headphones in June at the PS5 reveal event. Hopefully, we will get more answers soon from Sony.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Sony has been pretty vague but you'll be able to get 3D sound from any wired headphones. These however will give you 3D sound wirelessly. As for 3D sound from a home theater system, Mark Cerny spoke about that a while back. If I remember correctly, he said that initially, 3D sound would only be available through headphones. Later down the line they hope/want to make it available for TV speakers and of course home theater systems.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have other surround sound headsets and the audio is different. Im not sure if its because it may be different specs or whatnot, but it is likely becuase its 3d and not surround sound... whatever the difference is. I do believe you need this to get the benefit from PS5 3D audio supporting games though.
