“The question has been asked twice about whether this makes a noise when running. One person answered no...another answered yes. Which is correct? Can it be heard when there is no background noise at all?”

Does not make sounds while recording. Playback...obvious it makes all kinds of sound then.

No noise while recording. But by default it beeps when starting or stopping a recording, which can be turned off.

It makes no noise when recording. It was difficult for me to know when it was even turned on ... nice lil gadget.
