• It picked up sounds from 20 feet away; I think it will pick up from much farther away. You can adjust the settings. It would depend on how far away the people were sitting.

• Depends on how loud the question is and how far away the question is coming from. If the recorder is next to you and you can hear the question, you should be good.

• Mine does to a certain extent. It depends on if the person talking is within the same range as the speaker.
