I would say - not very far. I have not tried it more than 4-5 feet away but think quality/volume would drop off quickly depending on the source. A loud source, i.e. a PA system or auditorium PA might generae enough volume. It is possible to turn up the volume on playback. I have not tried connecting toa computer but that might be better. I may do some experiments .
