A:Answer Not in a car, if the engine is running, the recorder will hear it and record continuously. Once in a while I will forget to turn the recorder off and it will record my entire trip home (or wherever I am going) and wear down the batteries. Also keep in mind that recorders in voice activated mode will miss the first syllable or two of a conversation and will run the last bit of the previous sentence into the first bit of the next sentence. That's especially problematic when you're playing it back. If you're trying to record discreetly, be aware that some recorders make an audible sound when they run out of disk space or battery power.
