2 subs always better for more evenly distributed bass throughout the room. This isn’t for loudness, but rather allows for a similar experience no matter where you sit in your room. 2 wireless subs of same model will connect to the str-an1000 receiver.

The bass is much more evenly, smoothly distributed vs. the SW5 is better choice as a standalone vs. SW3, but not a pair of SW3. Ignore the Sony advice also posted. Their rec is for a wired subwoofer, and frankly, I would consider other brands at the SACS9 subwoofer price point. A consideration for me is the ability to better "hide" my pair of SW3 and also the clean install of wireless. If you are able to use wired subs, then consider a pair of subs that are identical that are 12" vs. this smaller sub for optimal sound. But aesthetics of the clean install and ability to hide the subs took precedence over absolute best sound. Best yet, I managed to buy 2 open box SW3s for less than an on sale new SW3!!

If you're looking for deep base, I would recommend investing into SASW5 subwoofer. Please note: The SA-SW3 and SASW5 subwooferare designed to pair to HT-A9 Home Theater System and HT-A7000, HT-A5000 or HT-A3000 soundbar only. If you're looking for a Sony subwoofer for your Sony STR-AN1000 AV receiver, I'd suggest checking out the SACS9 subwoofer. Hope this helps! We hope that the 200 watts of power is successfully filling your room with deep, rich bass. Make sure to run Sound Field Optimization through your paired A-Series audio system so that the subwoofer calibrates its performance to the surrounding environment. Regards, Sam
