Yes, something is wrong with it and hopefully you brought it back for an exchange already?
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.'Seems to die rather quickly' and 'forever to charge' are ambiguous. I'm think it took about two hours to charge mine. Mine plays for hours and hours... like forever. I've never had it run down yet. It played all evening on Christmas eve and most of the day on Christmas... as well as numerous other times. You may have something going on with yours.
