“I have a SRS-XB33. I drive a very loud very large diesel truck for work I have tried this speaker in the truck but is hard to hear over the engine noise. So would I be better off buying another SRS-XB33 and pairing them together or should I get SRS-XB43”

Keep the one you have and if you can also the xb-43, you can pair them and that's what i did excellent idea buddy!!!

You could also add a XB43 to your XB33. Each option may solve the issue you face. Also, you may try the Sony Music Center app, where you can use the EQ to ramp up The mids and highs which may enable you to hear your current speaker over the engine noise. Also, if you have a way to power the speaker while you drive, it will also give you a slight volume boost. Hope this helps, -Ralph
