“My receiver keeps shutting off at 30 percent volume, not sure why, is it because I have no preamp? I have large tower speakers, I’m not audio savvy, thank you for your help.”

I found this as problem as well when I tried to adjust the volume manually. You can obtain better results from the remote control unit.
