“My Sony STR-DH790 AV Receiver goes into Protect mode after less than a minute of playback. It's about one year old and only moderately used. I have tried rewiring all speakers. It is on an open table top and not overheating. Still dumps to Protect.”

Avoid this model and maybe Sony. I had 2 units fail, the replacement died just after 2y warranty. Service in NY said this was a known board problem. Sony sent a replacement that just went lemon on me. If you've followed the troubleshooting guide from Sony, it's internal, known, and Sony will not give a mouse-toot about it. Thank you for your money, get lost.
