The receiver I purchased is STRDH790 - Indeed it is 7.2 - if you look at the rear there are two sub-woofer out RCA jacks. Front, side and rear speaker connections complete the 7.2 specification. The other Sony receivers are very similar - just shop carefully - my personal one is a 5.2 but looks extremely similar to the 7.2. I simply did not have a good spot or space for rear speakers. I gifted this one for my brother's birthday.
