“Is the CEC function capable of working from the TV through the amplifier to HDMI sources (CATV and Blue Ray players) connected to the amplifier ? I'd like to keep the black boxes in the entertainment cabinet where IR remotes can't reach.”

I have all my devices run through receiver then to TV...Use Comcast Cable, PS3, a new Sony 4k DVD player, and can use Comcast controller to turn TV and receiver on off and volume up and down. That being said, Have to use Sony receiver to mute and select between Media devices. My IPhone 8 pairs up readily and plays Pandora without any issues. And turning on DVD player auto switches from TV to DVD, but still have to use DVD controller to play disk and have yet to get it to auto switch back to TV when turn off DVD and you have to manually switch by selecting Blue Tooth icon in receiver for phone.
