Sony STR-DH790 receiver has Speaker A / Speaker B / Speaker A & B / No Speaker options. 

I believe the trade-off is either have 7 channel main OR 5 channel main & re-direct to Speaker B.

I often play YouTube on my office TV with 3.1 (12" sub). My attached shop is set with two bookshelf speakers and a 10" subwoofer and I'll include it when I'm back and forth or play only B when I'm late night jamming.

I'm not positive but I don't think I can play independent sources but I'm not sure.

This is a Dolby 7.1 so there are hookups for 7 speakers total. No there is not an a/b

Unfortunately, these speakers don't have A/B option. If you want that kind of option, we recommend our older models.
