“I have this sony DVD player and it play well on new discs blue ray and 4K but when I purchased Gun Smoke complete series put on DVD it doesn't play like it should. It sometimes freezes up, the main menu freezes up. Any suggestions?”

Check updates by going to the update menu on the player. Some movies require updates from the firmware. If they are bootleg or from a bad source, the dvd's might be defective. It happens.
