“Will this stream CBS Access? and is it worth getting if you don't have a 4k TV or is it better getting one without the 4k - I have a 55" 2014 Samsung smart TV, and don't plan to upgrade anytime soon.”

I don’t know about streaming CBS Access; but we do not have a 4K TV at this time and the Blu-ray works great. The screen is crisp and the colors are clear and vivid. We chose to go with the 4K because the newer movies are all 4K it seems and we were thinking about upgrading to a 4K within the year so we chose the Sony and so far have been very pleased with it. Hook up was a breeze. When we did the curb side pick up we were told all the wires were in the box. They were not. It called for a HMI Cord and one was NOT included. We tried plugging into our existing one and it worked fine. So, we would recommend is Blu-ray player.
