If you plan on playing only regular dvds on an hd tv i would recommend an regular dvd player. You wont get the main benefit of blu ray without blu ray discs and at least a 1080p tv , if budget is your main concern and you have regilar dvds you would just waste money for the privilege of blu ray brand name.If you have real blu rays you can honestly use one certified refurbished. At best buy you can still get a warranty with it. You’ll get the benefit of blu ray at a lower cost. make sure to get a high bandwith cable to use for the player as this also effects playback quality. Best buy recommends rocketfish dont buy that it is there store brand and you can get better for the price
