Streaming wifi means you can access the internet to stream (watch) online shows through the DVD player without a smart tv.

If your home has internet with a wireless router, this DVD player can connect to your WiFi system, with out any cables. But, you will need a cable from the DVD player to your TV set. The cable can be HDMI or Digital Out co-axial....see photo of back side of the DVD player

Yes, you can stream without wires as long as you have wireless internet in your house, so you need a router.
