“If I have wifi through my cable company why do I need wifi on a new blu ray player?”

• I am not expert, nor a tech. This is my best response... The blu ray player has WiFi capability so that you can connect with your internet service provider. You still need an internet service provider for it to communicate with so that you can view Netflix, YouTube, etc. through your player. It acts much like (In place of) a Fire Stick to connect your tv to the internet. If your tv can already communicate with the internet, then you really only need the blu ray to play movies.
