- Answer I am not expert, nor a tech. This is my best response... The blu ray player has WiFi capability so that you can connect with your internet service provider. You still need an internet service provider for it to communicate with so that you can view Netflix, YouTube, etc. through your player. It acts much like (In place of) a Fire Stick to connect your tv to the internet. If your tv can already communicate with the internet, then you really only need the blu ray to play movies.

- Answer Hi BklynMom, No, this Blu-ray Disc isn't free multi-region. The unit have region codes written in letters to indicate a particular zone or region where you can play the discs. - Answer Your second guess is correct, you still need an HDMI cable to connect with the TV, that's how it communicates video and sound but "wireless" means it connects to WiFi without cables, so it can get it's updates wirelessly.
