There is a Sony portable charger that holds both sizes of batteries. The battery plugs into the charger and then directly in the wall - no cords. If you have 2 batteries, you can continue using the camera. I think it is much more convenient than the original charger/cord combo.

The Sony BC-TRV Travel Charger can also be used to charge the V series battery pack supplied with the Camcorder.
