• No, it's not an automatic turntable. You have to be ready to raise the tone arm as the record nears its end.

• The Sony 500 is not an automatic turntable. The tone arm has to be placed on the album to start playing. When the tone arm reaches the end of the album, there is a manual tone arm lift at the rear of the arm. This will allow the listener to safely return the tone arm without scratching the album.
