Lukewarm out of the box, tinkerers may see value.

      • My Best Buy® MemberMember

Picked this up about a month ago, open box in "excellent condition" from the Best Buy website. Most of the table was in said condition except for the dust cover which has a huge crack in it, tried to get it replaced via Sony's warranty program and was shot down due to it not effecting the operation of the table, whatever. The stock cartridge is okay, nothing special. It is user replaceable which is what I intended for it even before I bought the turntable, this is where a glaring issue arose. The connections that run from the cartridge down the tonearm to the board underneath are possibly the worst I've ever seen. Cheap, connected too tight, and flimsy. The red wire pulled right off of the connection when I went to replace the cartridge, after trying to solder the connection back on I gave up and ripped the wiring off the board and out of the arm and proceeded to order new tonearm wire with pre-installed terminations. If you like to tinker, know how to solder and don't mind voiding your warranty I'd say pick this one up. The tonearm wiring is a weak link that should be fixed if they produce another iteration, the DAC and software that let you rip your records however is very nice. The software is bare bones but gets the job done. The rips I've made from the turntable since installing the new wiring sound great, and if I ever want to swap the cartridge again I know it'll be easy since the new connections are nice and sturdy.

Smooth, good sound, plays a fine record

Bought this at my local Best Buy and am very pleased so far. Components seem high quality except perhaps for the lock that locks the tone arm down when not in use, which seems a bit flimsy. Setting it up properly took awhile (balancing the tone arm, etc.), but then I haven't had to set up a turntable in about 30 years so I was a bit rusty. Setup was made harder because of an error in the manual that comes with it (on pages 10 and 11 it says to balance the tone arm "horizontally" when it should be "vertically"). This cost me about an hour of needless effort, and I had to look at setup videos on Youtube to see that they really meant vertically. Aside from that, no problems with setup. It plays very smoothly and very well.

Great Sony Turntable, Simplistic Look, Great Audio

      • My Best Buy® Elite Plus MemberElite Plus Member

Ok my Last Sony Turntable purchased is the Sony PSLX350H, I still use it it still sounds great after all these years. Well I wanted a New Turntable for my Home Theater Room and I liked the Simplistic Look of this Turntable and Decided to buy it. It has a built in Phono PreAmp my old one does not so since most of Sony's High End ES equipment does not even have a Phono Input I needed one with a Phono PreAmp to output correctly into my Receiver. I must say yes it is Made Out of Plastic but it Still Sound Fantastic. I wish they would bring out a Sony ES Turntable in the Future, but that is neither here nor there. I got mine on Sale so I think I spent a $100 Less then it is listed here. Best Buy does have them on sale from time to time. It in my opinion is Worth It.

I purchased this turntable as a return, therefore there was a fair discount. It was in excellent condition. It has worked flawlessly. It nicely integrates with other Sony products such as the Sony 4k Blu-Ray player. I have it connected to a PC currently, downloaded the Sony recording App and it has functioned with no problems. The recordings to me are excellent. Allow for extra room behind the turntable when you lift up the top.
