My Sony UBP-X1000ES does indeed have left and right audio outputs for analog. The cables have to be purchased separately. I have been using my unit with analog outputs connected to my Space Tech Labs A-102 Headphone Amp, driving my Hifiman HE-400i Headphones. I have played SACD, DVD-Audio HiRes, and CD Formatted Disks with very satisfying results. The 1000ES has two HDMI Outputs, No.1 HDMI sends all of the digital/video/audio signals to your Flat Screen LCD TV. Connecting HDMI No.2 to a multi-channel Dolby Processing Receiver diverts those signals, while still maintaining the video signal going thru No. 1 HDMI to your monitor. I primarily use my 1000ES as a Universal Audio Player only, connecting the player only once to my monitor to configure the settings and check for software updates. It remains separate from the rest of my video system, being used primarily for audio. This limits your access to the different content on DVD-Audio HiRes. Defaults are set in the configuration for dual layer SACDs. The display on the unit itself is very limited as it does not describe when it is outputting CD signal, HiRes, or DSD. Presumably, that information would be displayed on your monitor. I have not tried the Unit with Blue-Ray Audio, or used the USB Input. I don't believe the USB will accept Music Files via cable from your laptop or desktop PC. I believe that it is designed to accept a thumb drive of recorded Music Files, formatted in a specific way. You can't download drivers onto the 1000ES for your laptop/desktop PC Music Playback. There are specifically similar units (With even more audio features) like Oppo, and a few other manufacturers. Some can play SACD, others cannot, among the litany of Audio Formats. Sony is well known for SACD, so....
