No you will not need internet but you should have internet with the first time set up because any updates that they fixed any bugs or problems will come in that update.

No only if you have to download updates! I have a had a bluray player that i streamed netflix and pandora on it was Toshiba ! It crashed i got a virus from internet streaming best for streaming is roku box!
