Yes it does the upscale to 4K..but your Flat Screen or your A/V receiver has to be 4K also or you will not see anything on the screen.

Please try again later.This player will upscale all discs, but the SD DVDs certainly don't have the identical clarity and sound quality as authentic 4K UHD discs do when played on a quality 4K television receiver. They are somewhat improved, though. The video quality of full HD Bluray discs also seem slightly improved when played on this DVD player, but again, the visual and audible quality of authentic 4K UHD discs are noticeably better. Then again, they SHOULD be better, since they are so much more expensive. The respective resolutions of DVDs are as follows: 4K UHD is 4 times better (higher resolution) than Bluray, while Bluray is 6 times higher resolution than the older SD DVD.
