“I stream Netflix to my 4K Sony TV thru an Xfinity DVR box (but only at 1080P because I don't have control of Xfinity account.) Will this player stream in 4K, without upgrading the cable box? Speed test showed 34mbps.”

Yes. Even a standard 1080p youtube video will look like 4k with this player.
