Hi Errol, The Sony UBP-X700/U player features 4K upscaling technology, which enhances the picture quality of regular DVDs and standard Blu-rays to approach 4K clarity when connected to a compatible 4K Sony TV. However, while it significantly improves standard definition content, it cannot magically turn regular DVD footage into native 4K quality.
