The sound can be turned up to max and wont crack in my experience. If you plan on having everyone listen to the music loudly then perhaps this one system is not loud enough. Everyone should be able to hear the music though. My best advice would be head to your nearest best buy with a display unit and try it out. That's how I ended up buying mine.
