I’ve owned 4 Sony projectors. I don’t know recall the first one. The others were VPL-VW100, VPL-VW325ES and VPL-XW5000. All of those had the same mounting bracket to hang from the ceiling.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I just ceiling mounted my VPLXW5000 and was AMAZED to find the mounting screws are WAAAAY off center. So the ceiling mount that I used on four other projectors doesn't work on this projector (and apparently this non-centered mounting screws is typical for Sony projectors). Since the mounting holes are off center on the VPLXW5000, the 28 pound projector tilts upward making the projection point at the ceiling, which is unusable. My initial work around is to jam a book at the front edge of the projector, attempting to keep it from tilting upward (see photo). It sort of works, but seems rinky dink for a $6,000 projector. I will need to get another type of ceiling mount. IMHO this is the worst product design I've ever seen on any product.
