The Sony XW5000ES is readily available now and has been off and on for several weeks now. Tip: Use the Notify button to get an email when its available if its not already. I ordered mine and picked it at the store a few days later.

I noticed in early July that Best Buy and one of my local electronics and Appliances store said they were in stock. I placed an order with Best Buy who said they would ship by July 30th. July 30th came and they've been delayed to September 23rd. Meanwhile I noticed my local Electronics and Appliances store said they had them in stock again around August 20th and went in to see if I could place an order and actually managed to walk out of the store with a unit (canceled my order with Best Buy right after). So Sony is actually shipping units out, there is probably something wrong on Best Buys end.

Sony hasn’t responded to any requests from my installer about when they’ll ship out the next batch. It’s back ordered everywhere and would be nice if Sony would respond so people know. My bet is they’ll put out a bunch in September to November before the holidays to catch up on all the back ordered ones. I have all my speakers and components for my new home theater and just missing the Sony projector which is frustrating. I’ve been told this projector is worth waiting for so will hold out unless the wait is 6 months or more.
